Remember who is reading your personal statement
Your child’s personal statement will be read by a professor of the course they are applying for. This means that it is only worth including material related to the course. Grade 5 piano and D of E Bronze medal won’t be necessary.
Read the content of the course
You can use the content of the course to say what aspect you are most looking forward to studying. This immediately shows the required passion and that you’ve researched the course you are applying for.
Relate your A levels to the course itself
Not every student has completed the essay prizes and work experiences that are required for Oxbridge applications, however, all students have done A levels / IB. Relate that content to the course you are applying for.
Include some literature related to the course
For Oxbridge, your personal statement will need to be almost exclusively scholarship and analysis, but every UCAS personal statement could be aided by engagement with one or two authors related to the course you’re applying for.
