Only for those on the nice list

Clarendon recently asked a friend what their daughter (Clarendon’s goddaughter, no less) might like for Christmas. Now, Clarendon has never heard of K Pop Demon Hunters, but assumes it is a harbinger of the sort of cultural collapse that those insightful, temperate minds in the White House administration have recently warned Europe about.

Clarendon isn’t sure that the migraine inducing catchiness of Rumi, Mira and Zoey (I’ve looked that up, don’t worry) is the kind of mind expanding present that we can endorse, so here is a list of more improving presents:

  • Build your own speaker. Don’t worry, they won’t be building a function one sound system, but they will be learning about electrical circuits whilst building a couple of mini speakers that flash lights and bounce foam balls. Brilliant for budding engineers.
  • Book subscription. This subscription gives them a book a month and allows them a bit of control over their reading.
  • Portable microscope. Perfect for those budding biologists, who might otherwise be tempted into something more barbaric with the insects in their room.
  • Grow your own seed kit. Not only a handy primer for GCSE biology, but building skills for the  inevitable coming apocalypse.
